Ominous

First impression: Very ominous. Like a foreign county shrouded in mist and intrigue. But the song opens up, almost like you're getting close to your destination. This particular track does what many others does: tells a story.

What that story says is specific to each person but I could easily see this adapted into a ballet of some sort.

Without much more to say other than this is a great song is you get a 6 out of 5 for sheer and absolute artistry.

popraz responds:

Thank you very much !

There could have been more

Just as a write-as-I-listen sort of review, the song takes a bit to take off. Like it's an overburdened airplane trying to get off the ground. There are a few too many stops-and-starts for your heavy hits rather than playing through them.

Anyway, I dig the organ exploding sometime after that. It feels like you're trying to build up to something bigger with each pass but at 2:09, you cut down before picking the beat back up. For the theme of a demon lord, it feels pretty tame.

But you get a 5. Overall, its a swell piece. You do make some pretty nice pieces. Also, I'm not sure if you really wanted it to be some epic battle theme or just a sort of "Hey, I'm a demon lord you tiny hero. I will eat you."

But it does have a quiet haunting feel. Like you're in the cave just outside the demon lord's chamber wondering if he's going to pop out and maul you.

Bezo responds:

Yeah, this is the theme of the guy, not his battle theme. That's uploaded also.

Good as Always

I've become a fan of your music Elfire, you have a talent for turning out interesting pieces.

As far as this goes, it's right on par with the (currently) number 1 song: Elfire.

And on a side note, I like the "skipiddy-do" kind of tempo. Keeps everything mixed up and plenty of variation to be had.

Nice Dubs

Where'd you get all these audio clips? Do you have them just lying around?

Anyway, very nice job.

crusherxt responds:

haha XD something like that. but thanx for review XD

Nice Sound

It's another wonderful song you've written! Experiment or not, the dynamic strings are beautiful. I like the beat, and it changes up enough to keep it interesting.

The only thing wrong is I feel that it repeats a lot. Though it's a new synth, it all feels repetative at times.

5/5

Elfire responds:

Ah thanks for your input, still not sure what to think of it but i agree with you on it being a bit repetitive, ideally id like to get some sick vocals in there...

Any offers? :[

Beautifully Simple

Though you seem to use few instruments, you do capture the emphasis of Drum and Bass. A real simple baseline and a hardcore beat that never really gets old, and when mixed with the high "bells" (for lack of better words to describe your high-pitched synth) and transitioning between filters is almost artful.

Simple tools, great effect.

dicennian responds:

lol thanks a lot, I don't expect people to like my old stuff :)

First Draft

While you did a good job on the remix, I simply liked the better one. I know people asked for it to be longer, but you hit the nail on the head with the first draft. This whole cross-fading business is a little out of place on occasion (01:45 for instance).

I still like your older one better. It was short enough not to overstay its welcome, and fit nicely into my playlist. But because I know you're trying to please people (which is where you went terribly wrong), I'll give you a B for effort.

hey there again...thanks for your honesty...and review

Acquired Taste

My immediate impression from how loud you set your baseline was that this was going to be something I'd hate. Terribly. Well, not so terribly it seems. Although I think you could've used a better intro than a phat tone playing as loud as possible.

But I'm going to be fair and say my speakers were turned up too loud, making the beginning even more intrusive.

But that doesn't detract from the song being repetative and very monotone. There's almost no dynamic what-so-ever. Maybe good background music for a chase scene.

8/10, 3/5

For the instruments

Your vocals almost made my ears bleed they were so loud. It drowned out all the rest of the music, and the lyrics are virtually nonexistant.

Industrial? Sounds like New Age, or some electronica, or perhaps Alternative, but Industrial? No part about this song says "experimental" other than maybe you were hoping to see how many people would cringe.

5/10, 2/5

Factory

Sounds like something they'd use in a car commercial where they'd advertise how well their cars are manufactured. I'm still waiting for some announcer to come on at the end and say some catchy thing marketing came up with.

Still, it's pretty good overall. It's got that hectic "get the job done" feel to it. Like there's an order to all that madness. Got a pretty good vibe off this and downloaded.
